If you live in the DFW area and are looking for a quick day trip, you may want to stop by and visit Weatherford Lake. The lake itself is beautiful, but they went in and put a bridge over one end of it, so that you can walk all the way across it.
This time of year, the Lilies are blooming in full force, putting a whisper of scent on the breeze and a displaying a vibrant background of color. Part of the walk takes you through a “nursery” of sorts, where you can find all kinds of babies running amuck. Pictured are a baby toad, and a school of baby catfish, but there are others there as well.
The walk itself is fairly easy, alternating between shaded areas and full sun access. The bridge is made out of some sort of floating plastic, with guardrails down both sides, and through out the walk, they’ve incorporated “pull off areas” with benches and plenty of room for a picnic or fishing! Bathrooms are available on either end of the bridge.
Hubby has back problems, but was able to make the walk without too much trouble. We took a picnic, took it slow and easy and really enjoyed the time with nature. Definitely recommend and we will go back at different times of the year to see the seasonal changes.
